Spare Ribs with Green Beans Recipe

Ingredients:

- 500g Pork Spare Ribs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 200g Green Beans, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 inch Ginger, minced
- 2-3 Dried Red Chilies, chopped (adjust to spice preference)
- 2 tbsp Soy Sauce (dark soy sauce for color, light soy sauce for flavor)
- 1 tbsp Shaoxing Rice Wine (optional, adds depth)
- 1 tbsp Oyster Sauce (optional, enhances umami)
- 1 tbsp Sugar
- 1/2 cup Water or Broth
- 1 tbsp Oil

Instructions:

1. Prepare Ribs: Marinate the spare ribs with 1 tbsp soy sauce, rice wine (if using), and half the minced garlic and ginger for at least 30 minutes.
2. Browning: Heat oil in a wok or large pan over medium-high heat. Brown the spare ribs in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Set aside.
3. Sauté Aromatics: Add remaining garlic and ginger to the pan, sauté until fragrant. Add the dried red chilies and sauté for another minute.
4. Stir-fry Green Beans: Add the green beans to the pan and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until slightly softened but still crisp.
5. Combine and Simmer: Return the spare ribs to the pan. Add the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and sugar. Stir well. Add the water or broth. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the ribs are tender and the sauce has thickened slightly.
6. Serve: Serve hot.

This recipe combines tender braised spare ribs with crisp-tender green beans in a savory and slightly spicy sauce.

Tips:

- Don't overcook the beans: Overcooked green beans will become mushy. Aim for a slight crispness.
- Adjust seasoning: Adjust the amount of soy sauce, sugar, and chili to your taste.
- Optional additions: Other vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms could be added.
- Thickening: If the sauce is too thin, simmer uncovered for a few more minutes to reduce and thicken it.
