Ingredients:
8 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup apple cider (or apple juice)
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, toss apple slices with lemon juice.
In another bowl, combine brown sugar, granulated sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Mix well.
Place the apples in the slow cooker. Pour melted butter and apple cider over them, then sprinkle the sugar-spice mixture on top.
Stir everything gently until the apples are evenly coated.
Cover and cook on low for 3–4 hours or on high for 1.5–2 hours, until apples are tender but not mushy.
Stir once halfway through cooking. Serve warm as a dessert, breakfast side, or over pancakes, waffles, or ice cream.
