Caramel Apple Dessert Cups


 


Ingredients:

4 medium apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Gala), peeled, cored, and diced

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, but recommended)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of salt

1/4 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

6–8 mini phyllo shells, shortbread tartlet shells, or mini graham cracker pie crusts

Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (optional, for topping)

Chopped pecans or walnuts (optional, for crunch)

 

Instructions:

1. Cook the Apples:
In a medium skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon (if using), and a pinch of salt. Cook for about 5–7 minutes, stirring frequently, until apples are soft but not mushy. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

2. Add Caramel:
Drizzle caramel sauce into the warm apple mixture and stir to coat. Let the mixture cool slightly so it thickens.

3. Assemble Cups:
Spoon the caramel apple filling evenly into each tartlet shell or phyllo cup.

4. Optional Toppings:
Top with whipped cream or a small scoop of vanilla ice cream. Sprinkle chopped nuts on top for added texture.

5. Serve Immediately:
Best served warm or at room temperature.
