Ingredients:
For the Meatballs:
- 1 lb (450g) ground pork or beef
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Hoisin Sauce:
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp water
For Garnish:
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp chopped green onions
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Meatballs:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork (or beef), breadcrumbs, green onions, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, egg, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Shape the mixture into 1-inch diameter meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the meatballs are fully cooked and golden brown.
2. Make the Hoisin Sauce:
- In a small saucepan, combine the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, and water. Stir well.
- Simmer the sauce over medium heat for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly. Remove from heat.
3. Coat the Meatballs:
- Once the meatballs are done baking, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the prepared hoisin sauce over the meatballs and gently toss to coat them evenly.
4. Serve and Garnish:
- Arrange the meatballs on a serving platter. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish.
