Ingredients:
20 wonton wrappers
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup strawberry jam or preserves (or fresh finely diced strawberries)
1 tsp vanilla extract (optional for added flavor)
1 egg (for egg wash)
Oil, for frying (vegetable or canola)
Extra powdered sugar, for dusting
Optional: chocolate or strawberry sauce for drizzling
Instructions:
1. Make the Filling:
In a medium bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup powdered sugar, vanilla extract (if using), and strawberry jam or fresh diced strawberries until smooth and well combined.
2. Assemble the Wontons:
Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean surface.
Place about 1 teaspoon of the cheesecake filling in the center of each wrapper.
Beat the egg in a small bowl and use it to brush the edges of each wrapper.
Fold the wonton into a triangle or bring all four corners up and pinch together to seal tightly, making sure there are no air pockets.
3. Heat the Oil:
In a deep skillet or pot, heat 2-3 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C).
4. Fry the Wontons:
Fry the wontons in batches, about 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.
Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
5. Serve:
Dust with powdered sugar while warm.
Optional: drizzle with chocolate or strawberry sauce for extra indulgence.
