Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup whole milk
2 large egg whites
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
For the glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tbsp milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8x8 inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add egg whites one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
Alternately add the dry ingredients and milk into the butter mixture, starting and ending with the dry. Mix just until combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
While the cake cools, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
Drizzle glaze over the cooled cake. Let set before slicing and serving.
